Why my Blog was so Quiet.

The last time that I posted a Blog was on May 27th. And I am going to tell you why I had to put myself on a hiatus, and show up just now.

The past weeks, social media has been so loud because of the movement you probably know about – The Black Lives Matter movement.
I decided to support that Movement first because c’mon! We need equality. Racism has to stop. And our Black Brothers and Sisters should also be able to live life the way they deserve.

I also became mentally drained, and I felt burned out because I used to stay late at night doing what I can possibly do to help.

Disclaimer : I’m not blaming the movement, It was and it is my initiative to help.

I know I knew what I should prioritize first, and that is to help those who are in need.
So I decided to temporarily stop my blogging game first. And be active on Twitter and Instagram, sign petitions, Send emails, share what I can possibly share. etcetera.

I, then, realize that if it was overwhelming and a little traumatic for me, then what about to those people experiencing racial injustice first hand?

I thought of an Instagram project I wish I can accomplish very soon.
And it’s the #theprojectloveletter.
Anyone can participate, and it’s aim is to make social media a good place for Our Black brothers and Sisters to heal.
If you wanna join, You can do the following :

1. Make a graphic (your letter of love to black people typed on a plain pink image)
2. Post on your feed and put under #theprojectloveletter
3. You can also share to your followers so more people can join.

The fight isn’t still over. There are lots of things which must still be fixed.
If you wanna do something or do more to support the movement, you can check the link. Here :

Here’s the Truth About Productivity // What to Do When You’re Unproductive?

You wake up at 6:00 AM, expecting yourself to be as motivated as you want to be. But as soon as you finished drinking your half-filled cup of coffee, you don’t anymore know where to begin, or what to do to be productive. Suddenly, you lose your inspiration to work, and you just want to get back to bed and sleep again.

And at 5:00 PM, you’re all exhausted even if you’ve done nothing, and you know you did almost nothing. Your friends told you what they did the entire day : they worked out, baked cookies, tidied their room, organized their closet, and gone for a walk. You feel guilty, and wish you felt inspire to work in the beginning of the day.

That is the common scenarios happening when we all battle with Productivity. We want to do every single thing in one day, but feeling like not moving.

Related: How to make the best out of your day?

But do we really have to be working every minute? every hour? Every day?
So right now, here’s the truth about productivity :

° It isn’t Consistent

Your motivation to be productive isn’t consistent. The above scenario explains this one. Sometimes, there are days that you wake up totally determined to work and smash your to-do list. But there also are days when all you want to do is to lay on bed, stare on walls, and do nothing but to find your peace.

° It is Sugarcoated by Social Media

Social media has become a place where day to day accomplishments are shared by people. There are instances where you check your Instagram account, and all that you see on ig stories are to-do list with a lot of check marks. You jump on Twitter, and all you see are tweet updates of people you follow about how good they’re doing with their target activities. And we can be sure that it added so much pressure to everyone to be productive everyday when we wake up. Making accomplishments is good, but it does take time too.

° People Only Show their Best Days

This is the sequel of the truth that ‘productivity is sugarcoated by social media‘.
A lot of us wants to radiate positivity all the time, and we want others to witness our best selves. Everyone doesn’t always wake up positively, some days can be odd and a little negative. When a person is being unproductive, there can only be a little chance that he or she will post it online. He or she, or we, are most likely to keep our unproductive days to ourselves. We tend to be quiet and not talk about it at all.

° Productivity can be Forced, but You Shouldn’t Do So.

Even if you’re feeling unmotivated, you can somehow put yourself on work. But I swear, you won’t get the best results. If something is worth your energy, do it. But if one doesn’t, you don’t have to keep pushing, especially when there’s no deadline.
That is why, productivity can be forced, but you shouldn’t do so.

° You Don’t Have to be Productive All the Time

This is the concluding advice of this post. Say it to yourself, ‘I don’t have to be productive all the time.’
You’re not in a competition, where you should be accomplishing more than anyone would expect from you.
If you’re not so well today, why don’t you try tomorrow?

Instead of being guilty, rather put your time on something fun, lighter to do, and useful:

° Read a book
° Go for a walk
° Exercise
° Watch informative films
° Pet your dog, or cat, or whatever that you have.
° Meditate
° Journal
° Listen to Music
° Eat your comfort food
° Edit Photos
° experiment with Make-Up

Do you also love being Productive? Do you feel pressured by social media in terms of productivity? Got some ideas what alternatives you can do next time you don’t have the motivation to work?

Drop your thoughts and let’s talk!

Important Things Instagram Beginners MUST Know

When you are just a beginner on something, it takes you some time to fully understand, and master the process of it.
It takes you some time to be comfortable with it, deal with it, and fully use it.

Instagram is one of the things which is not learned fast. It can be a little complicated, in means of content creation, gaining followers, advertising specific thing on it, or whatnot..

That is why today, I’m gonna be sharing with you the Important Things every Instagram Beginners must know :

📌 Use a clear and interesting Profile Picture

– This is one of the most important things every Instagram user must practice. When you use clear and interesting profile picture, then people will basically be interested, they will click your account to check your content. Through your profile picture, you already give hint that they must follow you because you create good content.
You wanna make sure that your picture really shows your face, so it must be not a whole body picture. Maybe half body picture, or a creative selfie.

📌 Experiment with username

– your username must be interesting as well. you can be more creative with it, add a word which will give the audience an idea about your niche.

📌 Follow people of the same niche

– Instagram following is really important. It builds what you see on your news feed everytime you open your account. Be sure with your niche, and follow users who categorizes themselves under the same niche too. Following like-minded people can help you build your own content, because you might as well get inspirations from their posts. Gaining followers can also become faster and easier since they will know that you have the same interests as theirs.

📌 Create uniform content

– creating uniform content doesn’t mean you have to post the same pictures with same subjects on your account forever. It means making your feed cohesive and well-organized. You might just wanna use one filter and edit the lightning of the pictures depending on their quality. Using one filter makes your feed visually pleasing, therefore calls the attention of other users. I recommend VSCO if you want bright filters, and Adobe Photoshop Lightroom if you want distinct filters.

📌 Put Description on bio

– putting description on bio is just as important as putting a profile picture. Your bio must define your account, or you as the owner of the account. If you’re a blogger, photographer, writer, et cetera, you should put that on your bio so people will know your category, and therefore engage on your account if they are under the same category too.
– if you also have website, youtube, or other socials, you can link that on the bio. In that case, you are already using Instagram to advertise.

📌 Use hashtags related on posts or captions

– using hashtags is really crucial in gaining engagement. When you post without hashtag, only your followers see it, but when you post with hashtags, even your non-followers can also have the chance to see your post as long as they follow the hashtag. Remember, you can use maximum of 30 hashtags per post.
– you can also follow hashtags you’re interested with, if you want to discover more Instagram accounts.

📌 Post on Story

– posting on story notifies your followers that you’re active. So maximize the use of Instastory feature because it can bring you engagement. The more you add, the more your icon is pushed on your followers news feed, it will make them check it and interact with your account.
– make sure that your stories are helpful and for a purpose. It should still be related with you or with your followers interests.

📌 Interact

– Interacting with other users is crucial. Like posts, comment on them, view their stories. When you engage with their content, they are most likely to bring it back to you. So as they grow, you too grow.

📌 Your name must be searchable

-There’s difference between username and profile name. Username is what people see on your post, on your stories. While, profile name, is what people see when they come across your account/ profile, or specifically, whole feed. It’s the name displayed under your profile picture, the one which is in top of bio section.
In making a profile name, you must make it searchable. When I say searchable, it means there should be key word/s. Examples are ‘blogger, youtuber, Photographer’.
I’ll give my profile name as an example : Mark Anthony || Blogger/Writer

When people type such keywords on search, your profile will appear. For example, someone search ‘Blogger’, my profile will surely be there because it does contain the key word ‘Blogger’.

📌 Be creative and always bring your phone with you.

– Creating content is one of the most exciting thing about Instagram, and it’s really the key to stand out despite of the Instagram’s ever-changing algorithm.
– sometimes, subjects can be so random, and you sure don’t wanna lose the chance to capture that. Bringing your phone with you, is one thing I’ve learned through the process of my instagram game. Make sure to always have your camera in your pocket, so you waste no moment you can put up on your feed.

Do you love Instagram? What’s your key to fight the ever-changing algorithm? Learned something new?

A Little Virtual Talk

I honestly feel so stuck up…

° ° ° °

Hey people! *Argh* I honestly do not know how to start. I know that this is so random of me to show up on the blog again from being so MIA. I mean, I can give an excuse, C’mon I’m a graduating student 😂 life has been so busy lately. On the bright side tho, I’m just weeks away before graduation. 🎊 (or if it will continue, Corona Virus is tryin’ to hit it hard by placing on critical condition)

Everything was a roller coaster ride again. I was so Manic but had one breakdown. However, I just wanna share and acknowledge what I felt but don’t wanna talk too much because I might get so negative again. I- don’t want negativity in my blog, just so you know.

I think, if there’s something I am most happy about, that is the fact that I’m getting my creativity back to artistic illustrations and painting again. Drawing on paper is something which I really loved when I was a kid, and I’m so happy I’m giving myself the chance to experience it again. Nobody’s asking but I already made four artworks already, and I have one WIP. I also added a menu section in my site where I’ll be posting and sharing ’em, it is called ‘my artworks’.
But I think, what’s making me sad is the fact that I feel so stuck up. Everything seems to be a Work in progress lately, especially for my novel. I wasn’t adding any chapter, and I still am not adding any. It’s just… sad. I’ll try to be productive this vacation (summer) in terms of creativity, and that’s a promise. Because I think, I see myself as the type of person who should always be doing something, I should be always working on something which makes me excited to feel truly alive.

And by the way, talking about novel, all the bright places- the first ever book which I read, and which is my fave, has finally a movie. And it’s only available on freaking Netflix. And I freaking can’t watch. So I’m sad again. 😭 the best alternative tho, is to just reread it. So I may reread anytime, because I want to get all the feels again.

Nobody asks but for me, 2020 is working well. And I hope it does the same with you. One more thing, as this year started, I became obsessed with Nail Polish 💅, and I might color my nails again after this. lol.

Alright! Let’s talk about blogging now. Over the months, I became more and more less interactive in the blogosphere, and that is one of the things which makes me sad bc I think I’m being so unfair (especially, to those who read my posts.) so I got an idea to probably start an awarding. Yep, you heard that right. I’ll create my own blogger award, and I’ll give it to those people whom I know are deserving. Exciting! Don’t you think?
And also, whenever I post, You can always comment something you want together with the link leading to your blog post you want me to read. I think, that will make everything easy for me to manage. And once you do so, I’ll sure make time to check that out and show some loveeee. ♡

° ° ° °

So that’s it, for my li’l talk. Just to make my site alive again, and to update y’all about – me – my life – behind the scenes. (?)

Another update which I almost forgot: tho I said that 2020’s becoming great, I already feel like giving up on my glow-up list. You know, it’s just exhausting, and I feel like it’s just an addition to my responsibilities. Ha-ha hilarious. Btw, I’m also planning to get my tan this summer ☀. Ahhhhhhhkk

What is up with your life right now? Everything’s going well? Is 2020 treating you great? Share that with me, I’ll listen, and let’s have some coffee virtually.

Photo Editors I Use for an Aesthetic Instagram Feed

Keeping up with the Instagram game is quite uneasy. There can be scenarios where you might feel uncomfortable with the own feed you make, so you end up putting content and then hiding them after, putting up again, and hiding once again. Until you can’t anymore decide how to build your content together.
I think, this usually happens not because of lacking ideas, but because of cohesiveness problem- you can’t see your pictures match professionally.

Today, I’m sharing wit’ you the instagram editors I use so I can successfully put out cohesive aesthetic content.

° ° ° °

VSCO

– i love this app so much. It’s super accessible and easy to use unlike other editors. The Free presets are fancy and the adjustments are easy to manipulate. It’s perfect if you want bright filters, and want the colors to pop up on your feed.

Lightroom

– lightroom is kinda more complex than VSCO in photo editing. But I love how this app can help with creating unique presets. It does suit well if you’re a fan of moody and aesthetic feed.

Picsart

– This is what I use for stickers. It’s easy and free.

Phonto

– app which I use for adding texts or captions over pics, to make it more aesthetic.

Afterlight

– I use Afterlight mainly for dusty vintage effect. But it also offer various filters, and has adjustments too.

Vaporcam

– vaporcam is what I use to add effects over my pictures, like rainbow effect. It’s pretty cool and artsy.

° ° ° °

Others:

Highlight cover maker

– highlight cover maker helps to give you access to create your own signature instagram highlights cover. It’s free, however, if you want to get the most of it, you can pay.

Preview

– Preview is a great application to use if you’re not a fan of spontaneous posting, and want your feed to be planned before getting it online. It gives you the chance to arrange your photos in advance, and allows you to see how your instagram feed will look like.

° ° ° °

Instagram tricks :

• you can use 3 various filters for as long as they suit to each other, so the feed will still be cohesive. (tbh, I use more than one filter on my photos)
• choose your content. (Examples: aesthetics, photographs, your face, outfits) then plan their arrangement.
• do not overuse stickers.
• post your own works as much as possible.
• edit depending on the quality of your pictures.
• you can watch editing tutorials on YouTube
• play around with different presets
• enjoy

That’s it y’all. If you have gram account, you can use e’rything that I shared. By the way, if you’re not following me, I’m @thonysthetically. Drop down your account username on the comments and I’ll sure check that out.

What Editor/s do you use for your photos? Using gram? What type of content are you posting in there?

Share that with me 💭
